INTEGRATE - INTERFACE - INNOVATE

Abacus can interface with a wide range of counting devices to give you the data you need.

Whether it's an analytics camera, a dedicated people counting device, a barrier, turnstile, tripwire or a scanner, Abacus can collect the data you need from it and integrate that with other data.

Video Analytics Cameras

CamAdvances in pattern-based analytic algorithms and computer vision mean that the allocation of staff with manual counting clickers or the use of inaccurate pressure mats are no longer necessary to understand visitor trends.

VCA Video Camera Analytics offers a cost effective way to utilise both IP and encoders for existing analogue cameras. Video Analytics software can be embedded into surveillance cameras to set up:

  • People counting
  • Car or object counting rules
  • Visitor tracking
  • Dwell & Queue monitoring
  • Abandoned object detection
  • Vehicle classification
  • Object filtering by colour.

Where high mounting points are available, video counting can be used to monitor wide areas both indoors and outdoors, avoiding the need to use multiple devices.

Using cameras with infrared illumination, Video Camera Analytics can operate in low light or outdoors even at night.

Thermal Infrared Counters

Cam 2Irisys Thermal Visitor Counters represent the most widely used people counting hardware – with over 360,000 devices sold in the last 10 years.

Thermal people counters are non-intrusive and overcome issues regarding privacy concerns by counting people by detecting body heat - accurately counting bi-directionally, even when a high number of visitors are passing simultaneously.  Thermal counters are unaffected by changes to ambient light and shadow, or inanimate objects which can disrupt counts on other counting devices. A range of devices are available for both indoor and outdoor use.

A range of devices are available for both indoor and outdoor use to cope with a range of environmental conditions, and because the thermal counters don’t require light, they can count even in darkness.

Mounting heights of between 2.2m and 4.8m can be accommodated with standard lens units.  Other lens options are available to cover higher mounting heights.  Irisys People Counting systems also have a low cost of ownership, using 80% less energy than video based systems and have a MTBF of over 25 years.

The new successful ‘Gazelle’ range builds upon previous success. Gazelle DualView offers tried and tested infrared people technology for a range of applications, and offers a built-in optical camera for validation and audit purposes. Where privacy is of concern, a thermal only version of Gazelle is also available, where individuals cannot be identified. Remote monitoring of the counters your sensors allows us to perform any checks required.

Stereoscopic 3D Video Counters

PicStereoscopic 3D video counting offers additional accuracy benefits for counting in areas of high volume traffic, or where standard counting devices might face environmental challenges.

3D video people counters achieve over 98% accuracy, and can still maintain privacy as analysis is done on-the-edge, within the device itself, without any video being sent across the network.

These high accuracy counting devices capture and track each person in camera’s field of view, but can filter objects based on shape, size, speed and height – avoiding false counts of pushchairs, shopping-trolleys or shadows.  By tracking in 3D these counting units can be used for more applications beyond the main entrances, such as queue monitoring, visitor tracking and product shelf monitoring.
